OverviewMany organizations are forced to reduce labor costs as a way to improve their bottom line. Whether scheduling the proper workforce or simply meeting targeted labor costs, organizations find limited options elsewhere in the budget to increase profits. If you are in an organization that manages a workforce, you know that your employee productivity, morale and retention are all directly impacted by the quality of the workforce management and scheduling process. TechSchedule alleviates these issues.
The common complaint heard in dispatch centers is that their scheduling system does not balance actual resources needed with the actual resources available, not to mention the lack of forecasting with an accurate technician utilization rate. Further compounding the problem, most scheduling systems do not incorporate emergency response tickets in the forecasted schedule. In other words, the only worth while appointment reservation system is one that accounts for technician variances, individual job-site durations, historical and seasonal drop-in work, and uses actual street-level route optimization - to forecast and modify future days schedules. When a highly dynamic labor demand requirement exists, optimization may occur completely in synchronization with that demand, resulting in unique shift sets and headcounts on a weekly, daily or even sub-hourly basis. Nonetheless, from experience in building our applications in the field, the Dispatch Manager needs full control over the constraints assigned to the optimization - to account for needed exceptions during the day. For example, she may need to schedule a specific job to a specific technician for the next day; she may also want to limit shift length to a non-overtime inducing duration or determine if overtime on any given day this week will result in a lower total cost for the week. In other words, Schedule and Appointment Optimization can also look across the enterprise to ascertain where aggregate demand might create opportunities for deployment and re-deployment of staff to meet labor demand that varies by work site or station. This process is imperative in a dynamic, cost sensitive service organization. 3-POINT Technologies has built TechSchedule using the same street-level optimization engine techniques from TechRoute. Furthermore, by incorporating the continuous improvement of historical data from TechInsight, the final result is a continuous and highly refined demand planning system!
